Update – reopening on Thursday 3rd December
With fingers crossed and in line with current government guidelines, the re-opening of Krinkles will be on Thursday 3rd December, and we will do so with a host of safeguards in place for our clients and team.
Guided by our own values and the latest information from the UK Government we want to create an environment that is both safe and welcoming for everybody so we would like to share with you some of the ways we will achieve this.
To ensure the safety of all our customers, maximise the opportunity of an appointment before Christmas whilst keeping our teams safe, we are working a split shift pattern every day through to Christmas Eve. Open 6 days every week, and for extended hours through to 8.00pm (excluding Saturdays).

The Salon Environment
All our procedures have been reviewed with the emphasis on heightened hygiene measures. Hand washing is the most effective measure for infection control, we additionally have hand sanitiser available at all workstations and an automated dispense unit in reception. All staff have been instructed on both the importance and the method whereby they will regularly wash their hands and on every occasion that their working procedure will involve moving from one client area to another. All customers will be required to use hand sanitisers on entry to the salon, they may also use client facilities to wash their hands and sanitisers available at each workstation as required.
A deep clean has already been completed in all areas of the salon, all air filters have been replaced in the air-conditioning units and some redecoration has been completed. On a daily basis we have established procedures for a complete clean down at the end of every day and sanitisation of workspaces following each customer visit. Particular emphasis will be paid to the regular clean down of contact points at reception and throughout the salon.
Initially, we will not be serving refreshments, but as our new procedures establish themselves, when we are confident that this will not be a risk and believe that some customers may be comfortable with served beverages, we will review this policy.
For the initial period after reopening and in line with government advice for personal service environments, we will be asking clients to wear a face mask during all visits. We believe that most clients will wish to bring their own but we will have available a supply of masks which can be purchased on arrival for £1.00. Staff will be wearing, face masks or visors depending on the nature of their service and protective glasses will also be available to them.
Initially, magazines and other media will not be available, but customers are welcome to bring their own and of course free Wi-Fi enables the use of tablets and phones in the salon.
Many customers who had appointments cancelled at the time of lockdown have already been contacted and are booked, there are a few extra procedures that we have put in place to help everyone else.
Our new working procedures will reduce the number of customers and team members able to be in the salon at any one time. To compensate for this, we will be extending the length of our opening week to Monday through Saturday.

To minimise the impact of cancelled appointments and no-shows, we will be asking for all bookings to be covered by a deposit. This will be refunded provided a clear 24 hours’ notice is given for a required change. Discretion will be given to individual circumstances.
If you have any specific issues relating to your hair or have resorted to home treatments or colours during the lockdown, please discuss this with the salon at the time of booking and before arriving at the salon for your appointment. There may be a requirement to submit to a skin test prior to the booking for certain technical treatments.
As we have to manage the number of people in the salon at any one time, please do not bring friends or family members with you to your appointment. For this reason, we will need to review services for very young children.
Our new appointment schedule should provide sufficient time to carry out all of our extra hygiene procedures, but we really do need help with prompt arrivals, this can work if we all work together.
If you identify as being in an at risk group for reasons of age or health profile, we would ask you to consider carefully whether a salon visit is right for you now. We will do everything possible to make your visit safe and comfortable but would suggest that you consider a short delay to your first return appointment. Once the initial rush is over, we may be able to provide early and late day appointments especially for you, please discuss with reception when these may be available.
If you have any concerns regarding your health or if you are experiencing any of the symptoms related to Coronavirus or any other respiratory condition, please do not come to the salon. If you are in contact with anyone who is displaying symptoms or has concerns regarding their health, please do not come to the salon. If you are in contact with any person who has been socially mixing in a manner beyond the Government’s advice for social contact, please do not come to the salon.
Control of infection is the responsibility of everyone, in many instances, only the individual will know whether or not their health condition or behaviour is likely to present an infection risk to others. At Krinkles, we will manage our procedures and processes in a manner such that the risks of infection are at an absolute minimum, in all other regards we must rely upon the good sense and care of all visitors to our business.
All of our policies will be subject to regular and continuous review in line with Government guidance and the practical application of procedures as we work through the initial phases of reopening. Should any changes present a significant variation to the advice contained here, the information will be updated.
We hope that this information will help you to understand the revised working procedures at Krinkles. We all hope that one day some of these measures can be relaxed, but for now, working safely will help to ensure the safety of everyone.
